Turning Socks into Snowmen

Friday afternoon crafts help K-2 students develop fine motor skills while having seasonal fun! This Friday, students made snowmen out of white socks filled with rice.

To begin, students filled short, white socks with six small scoops of rice. Staff members helped students use rubber bands to divide the sock into a snowman body and head, and then cut off extra sock material at the top. Then came the fun part—adding arms, eyes, nose and buttons, and securing all with glue! Finally, students added a pipe cleaner scarf.

It was a little tricky adding such small pieces to their snowmen, even for little hands. But you can see from the smiles on their faces, the finished product was worth the effort!
