Visitors to Linden Grove School’s main office are enjoying stained glass art courtesy of LGS 4-8 grade students. The project was inspired by the students’ consideration of stained glass windows as representative of medieval art—part of the students’ on-going study of the history of art.
To create their stained glass wonders, students used black sharpies to draw designs on laminating sheets. They then colored in the sections of their designs using different colored sharpies. Finally, glue mixed with black acrylic paint was used to trace over the original design drawn by the black sharpie – the black glue created an effect reflective of the lead used to combine individual pieces of colored glass in stained glass windows.
