As part Summer Camp Amazing Race week activities, 4-8 students have explored different ways to travel the world including trains, planes, hot air balloons, boats, and more.
For ideas and inspiration, Mr. Luken’s class enjoyed reading a student version of 80 Days Around the World by Jules Verne. Students tracked the journey of Phileas Fogg as he traveled from London to Egypt, India, Hong Kong, Japan, and the U.S. before arriving home, travels largely by steam-powered trains and boats.
Also during the week, Ms. Kuehnle’s students constructed hot air balloons from paper, planes from LEGO™, and boats from plastic egg cartons. Then, on the final day, they held a boat race using straws to created added wind to power their sailboats. An exciting end to an amazing week!
