An LGS alum and parent encouraged basic skills and creativity in the kitchen as part of this year’s Summer Camp activities.
LGS alum Charlotte Ford graduated from Purcell Marian High School and then the Culinary Arts program at The Art Institute of Ohio-Cincinnati. Charlotte works full time in the bakery department at a local Kroger, but was able to spend a day at LGS’s Summer Camp teaching 4-6 team students how to decorate cupcakes. Students practiced following directions and taking turns with the various frostings and décor available; more importantly, they were encouraged to be creative in decorating delicious works of art!
LGS parent Chef Pete Dorizas hosted a cooking-themed week at Summer Camp again this year, this time assisted by his daughter Leah, an LGS middle school student. Students in grades 4 through 8 learned about basic kitchen safety, as well as mixing and measuring skills — all while using their creativity to experiment with different fillings and toppings for crepes and bread pudding.
Many thanks to our guest presenters for sharing their professional skills and creating a memorable summer experience for our students!
