During Linden Grove School’s second week of Summer Camp, students are considering what it would be like to be an astronaut:
- What would your rocket look like?
- Where would you go?
- What would you see?
K-4 students received an introduction to the universe through the book Me and My Place in Space by Joan Sweeney. With Earth as a starting point, a young astronaut leads readers on a tour past each planet and on to the stars, answering simple questions about our solar system.

Younger students were then asked the questions, “If you were an astronaut, where would you go?” Perhaps the moon, to look back on earth? Or maybe you would discover a new planet—what would it be like?
A more factual story about life as an astronaut is told in the book If I Were an Astronaut by Eric Braun. For a reading of the story from the International Space Station, part of the Story Time from Space program, click here.
