During the first week of Summer Camp, K-4 students have been having fun with fairy tales and fables, including Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, The Three Little Pigs, The Gingerbread Man, and Humpty Dumpty.
After enjoying a video recording of The Three Little Pigs, K-2 students were challenged to build a house for their own little paper pig using marshmallows and toothpicks — a house that couldn’t be blown down by a big, bad wolf.
After enjoying Humpty Dumpty, 2-4 students enjoyed egg-related challenges. Mrs. Wink’s students were challenged to package eggs inside plastic bags or cups, using various packing materials: feathers, paper, tape, cotton balls, etc. The eggs were then dropped from the top of a bookcase to see which would survive the fall. Miss Clements’s students placed eggs in plastic bags with materials ranging from marshmallows to rice; students predicted if the eggs would or would not break when dropped from a “wall,” and then tested their predictions.
