As a kid, one of the best parts of Valentine’s Day is heading to school with a bag full of sweet little cards and treats for all of your friends in class. And the tradition is alive and well at LGS though this year, amid COVID-19, with a little twist!
This year, to help ensure social distancing, students placed their Valentine’s Day boxes/bags in the school hallways outside their classrooms. Then students walked the hallways to deliver their items. It was fun to see the variety of cards and treats, as well as the decorated boxes and bags!
Students also enjoyed a variety of Valentine’s Day-themed classroom activities ranging from sorting and graphing the various colors included in a box of conversation hearts, to answering Valentine’s Day trivia questions, to writing Valentine’s Day-themed poems.
Ms. Wagner’s K-2 Team students made heart-healthy yogurt parfaits. With their yogurt, they could select from strawberries, chocolate Teddy Grahams, chocolate chips, Honey Nut Cheerios, heart-shaped sprinkles, and alphabet cookies. The verdict? “Delicious!”
