Celebrating the Superpowers of Creativity and Critical Thinking

Students enjoyed a week of fun dedicated to superheroes and celebrating the superpowers of creativity and critical thinking.

This week’s Summer Camp theme “STEAM Fun 101” provided opportunities for students of all ages to test their coding and other science skills using activity kits including a Code & Go Robot Mouse and LEGO™ Education WeDo sets.

Science concepts and skills were also integrated into arts activities ranging from print making to painting with magnets.

Creativity, of course, is always encouraged: in art classes, science and math projects, and language arts activities which this week included creating stories and scenes depicting superheroes!

The highlight of the week, however, were two special guests.

Older students welcomed a visit from Rob Charvat of Ohio Drone LLC. Students received of an overview of drone safety and operations, tested their piloting skills using a drone flight simulator app, and then had the chance to fly a drone over the field next to LGS.

Younger students received a visit from Spiderman! He showed students some of his special Spidey moves and then went outside with them to play ball tag and enjoy the playground equipment.

Thanks you to our special visitors for helping to make this a memorable week of Summer Camp!
